The Iseran links the Haute Maurienne with the Tarentaise. This page gives the weather at the altitude of the pass, the announced schedule and the official source for the road.
In short. The Col de l’Iseran is at an altitude of 2,770 m (D902). The status shown at the top of the page (open, closed or partly open) is the one published by the Département de la Savoie on Savoie Route, with its update time; a webcam does not confirm that a pass is open. The page also gives the weather calculated at the pass’s altitude, the announced schedule and the official links.
Understanding the conditions
Is the Col de l’Iseran open?
For the 2026 season, the Département de la Savoie (the local authority) announced the opening on 12 June (press release of 23 April 2026, updated on 12 May 2026). This is a provisional schedule, subject to the weather and to roadworks. The current status at the top of the page is the one published by the Département on Savoie Route: Savoie Snow shows it as published, with its date, and does not work it out itself. If in doubt, the official source prevails.
The forecast at the top of the page is calculated by the Open-Meteo model for the pass itself, at its altitude of 2,770 m: temperature, wind and the rain-snow line there differ markedly from the neighbouring valleys. These are model estimates, not measurements taken at the pass, and forecast snowfall does not tell you whether the road is passable.
A high pass that closes early in the season
At over 2,700 m, the Iseran is one of the highest road passes in the Alps: it closes with the first serious snowfalls and opens late in spring. As of 2 October 2026, no 2026 closure date had been published.
A webcam at the pass: still to be found
No webcam installed at the pass itself is listed here with a usable source. The Val d’Isère and Bonneval-sur-Arc views do not show the pass.
